Oman’s Green Hydrogen Strategy: A Gateway to New Procurement Opportunities

Oman is positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector with its ambitious plans for green hydrogen production. By aiming to produce 1 million tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030 and scaling up to 8.5 million tons by 2050, the country is aligning itself with global sustainability trends while ensuring energy security.

Key Objectives and Investments

Oman has outlined five strategic objectives for its green hydrogen sector:
  • Securing energy independence while meeting global demand.
  • Diversifying the economy and generating long-term employment.
  • Decarbonizing for a sustainable future.
  • Creating a competitive export market for green hydrogen.
  • Attracting significant foreign direct investment (FDI).

To achieve these ambitious goals, Oman is set to attract approximately USD 33 billion in investments by 2030. Additionally, an investment of USD 4 billion is needed to increase the share of renewables in the national electricity grid. This makes Oman’s green hydrogen market an attractive hub for both local and international suppliers.

Growing Demand and Infrastructure:

Oman projects a steady increase in domestic green hydrogen demand, from 50,000 tons annually by 2030 to 1.4 million tons by 2050. In support of this, Oman has allocated 50,000 km² of land for green hydrogen production projects. With the completion of the first round of hydrogen auctions, six projects have been awarded, targeting the production of 1,010 ktpa by 2030, and necessitating an investment of USD 38 billion.

Why Suppliers Should Join the JSRS Ecosystem?

With Oman’s green hydrogen strategy presenting lucrative procurement opportunities, the Joint Supplier Registration System (JSRS) offers a single-window compliance platform mandated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. This platform connects local and global suppliers with Oman’s vast procurement landscape, ensuring access to growing opportunities across sectors such as energy, construction, logistics, and infrastructure.
By becoming JSRS certified, suppliers can:
  • Build credibility and enhance visibility to key stakeholders.
  • Unlock access to procurement opportunities in Oman’s burgeoning green hydrogen sector.
  • Engage in B2B partnerships with major operators and buyers.
  • Contribute to Oman’s In-Country Value (ICV) initiatives, a driving force for economic and social growth.
Take the First Step

Register with JSRS to become part of Oman’s green hydrogen revolution and gain access to unmatched procurement opportunities. The future of renewable energy is here, and Oman is leading the way.
